About Tyler
Tyler Irving has been singing in the Catholic Church for as long as he can remember.
What began with Christmas and Easter choirs as a child quickly grew into a lifelong journey of music, faith, and ministry. As a young teenager, Tyler taught himself to play piano, and by the age of 14, he was serving as a substitute music director at his home parish, leading weekend Masses with a choir.
Those early years shaped more than Tyler’s musicianship. They gave him a deep understanding of the Catholic liturgy and taught him that music in the Church is about far more than performance.
He leads people in prayer.
A formative chapter in Tyler’s musical and spiritual journey began at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona, where he was surrounded by a community that helped shape his understanding of Catholic worship. There, Tyler had the privilege of learning from and being mentored by Tom Booth, Tim and Julie Smith, and David Mares — musicians and ministers whose work and example deeply influenced the way he approaches music in the Church. Their guidance helped Tyler discover that contemporary worship and the richness of the Catholic faith could live beautifully together, while teaching him the importance of serving the liturgy, leading with humility, and creating music that invites people into prayer. The influence of these mentors continues to shape Tyler’s ministry and the music he creates today.
After graduating high school, Tyler studied Personal Finance at the University of Arizona while continuing to pursue his passion for Catholic music. During his time at the university, he had the opportunity to play piano for Catholic musician and songwriter Tom Booth at the Newman Center, further deepening his appreciation for the tradition of contemporary Catholic worship and the musicians who have helped shape it.
In 2019, Tyler’s journey brought him to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Tucson, where he began serving as the Life Teen Music Director. What started as a young musician stepping into a new role became years of ministry, community, and growth. At St. Thomas, Tyler helped build and lead a music ministry that became an important part of his life and faith.
Today, Tyler lives in Dallas, TX with his wife Sierra.
Through the years, music has accompanied Tyler through every kind of season — joy and uncertainty, gratitude and grief, struggle and healing. Songs that began simply as music often became something more: prayers that carried him through moments when words weren't enough.
And through every season, one thing remained constant: God has been faithful.
my Lord, my God grew out of that realization.
This collection of contemporary Catholic worship is an offering of the songs that have accompanied Tyler throughout his journey of faith. Some are songs he has loved for years. Others have taken on new meaning through seasons of difficulty, gratitude, healing, and change.
The collection begins with Living Hope, the first single from my Lord, my God, releasing August 28, 2026.
